About Us
The Rainsville Christian Church is a self-governing, independent Christian Church. The business of the congregation is conducted by the church board, which consists of Elders and Deacons who meet scriptural qualifications and are elected by the congregation. Church board meetings are open to the congregation and input from the congregation is encouraged, however, the decision making process is reserved for elected Elders and Deacons. The meetings of the Elders are generally closed meetings due to the confidential subject matter often discussed. When a minister is called to serve the congregation, he is a non-voting member of the church board and all committees. Though he is expected to meet the qualifications of an Elder and some may choose to call him pastor, he is actually a trained and ordained minister who is called to come along side of the Elders and congregation to help them meet their obligation to ‘Pastor’ the congregation and evangelize the community. He is called to train, advise and evaluate not to replace or dictate. The minister is often referred to as the ‘Evangelist’. This congregation is dedicated to the unity of all believers in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God. We do not desire to be separate from any group of believers. For this reason we choose to call ourselves simply ‘Christians’. For this reason we claim only the Bible as our rule. For this reason we do not place any requirement upon another Christian other than those stated in the Bible. Though Rainsville Christian is non-denominational, we do associate closely with other ‘Christian Churches’ and ‘Churches of Christ’ (using instruments) to jointly support missionaries, youth camps and Bible Colleges. The Rainsville Christian Church, practices the ordinance of baptism by immersion for the remission (forgiveness) of sin of those who have confessed their faith in Jesus as the Christ the Son of God and their personal Savior. Rainsville Christian Church also follows the first century practice of partaking of ‘Communion’ (Lord’s Supper) weekly.
